About

The Stennis Foundation is a non-profit organization committed to raising public awareness regarding the Leukodystrophies, as well as raising funds for Leukodystrophies research, and forcefully advancing toward a cure for these diseases.  The Stennis Foundation also advocates for blood and marrow donation, and works with other organizations to recruit people to the "Be The Match" national bone marrow registry.

The Stennis Foundation has also helped Leukodystrophy-affected families by providing sheepskins for Leukodystrophy patients to lie on, helping to prevent skin breakdown; and by helping with the purchase of assistive devices for Leukodystrophy patients.

The Stennis Foundation is named for Dr. Sam Stennis, a former optometrist from Amarillo, Texas. He was diagnosed with adult-onset MLD in 1997, and passed in March 2008.

Please consider this your introduction to, and invitation to be a part of, The Stennis Foundation, which is funded and supported through individual gifts, corporate donors, and special events and fundraisers. With your help, we are "One Step Closer" to a cure!
